Courts in Clark County

The highest court in Clark County is the Eighth Judicial District Court. It comprises multiple divisions, including civil and criminal divisions, making up the District Court and the family and juvenile divisions of the Clark County Family Court. The family court has jurisdiction over family and juvenile cases, including issues relating to guardianship, adoption, and probate. The court also runs a family mediation program and handles alternative dispute resolution.

Clark County is also home to 11 Justice Courts located in Boulder, Bunkerville, Goodsprings, Henderson, Las Vegas, Laughlin, Mesquite, Moapa, Moapa Valley, North Las Vegas, and Searchlight. These are courts of limited jurisdiction that hear criminal cases involving misdemeanors and civil cases with claims under $10,000.

Lastly, there are five municipal courts in Clark County. They hear cases involving misdemeanor violations of city or municipal ordinances and certain civil cases involving claims that are less than $2,500.
