There is also a single state bankruptcy court dealing with all issues around bankruptcy law. This court is the United States bankruptcy court, District of Vermont.
The trial courts within the state are varied. Some have limited jurisdiction over certain aspects of the law.
The Superior Courts of Vermont have different divisions for dealing with subject-matter issues. For instance, each has a civil division as well as family and criminal law divisions. They also have probate divisions which deal with all matters regarding estates and inheritance law and taxation.
Unusually, the Environmental Division is among the superior courts in the state. It hears all of the cases about land use and municipal land cases, working with the state environmental and natural resources boards.
There is also a judicial bureau dealing with issues with state law enforcement or appeals against officers in Vermont.
